Everyone is Jealous 5×5 BBW Painting

If we’re already friends you know I love John Waters and “Female Trouble” is just a hysterical movie. Dawn Davenport and her cha cha heels…. was the inspiration for this 5×5 acrylic painting on a found wood board.

Ran across something fun today. I did a project through a Brooklyn library back in 2010 and they digitized the sketchbook. Here you go!

  • Remember the Little Things 5×8 on Wood

Remember the Little Things 5×8 on Wood

This is a 5×8 acrylic painting on wood. I’ve had to start over a number of times in life and it sucks but it really points out how important it is to remember the little things. The things we say and do are so much more important than material possessions.

That’s why this piece is done with shades of green (life) and lots of vines, flowers, and honey bees (they make it all happen don’t they?).

If you want to more information about this piece – it’s in the store  🙂

  • 2 Headed Nuns and the Green Apples of Discord

2 Headed Nuns and the Green Apples of Discord

This is a piece I really like. The two-headed nun is juggling the green apples badly. The holy Roman church is keeping tabs on what they are doing via the ear and eye.

  • New Artcar Being Born!

Well, it’s beginning. Another artcar being born – the working title is #AllStarCoCarand you can follow us on social media by putting in that hashtag OR just follow us for regular updates. It is going to be a fun journey. We are collaborating with the fine folks at the AllStarCo for the gems and let me tell you – the gems are so much better quality than we used on Plan B. We had a huge issue with the gems on Plan B scratching as soon as they were out of the package and many got scratched within their own packaging so the shine was diminished from the get-go. I’m so stoked!

Here is the yucky, dull, boring exterior of our 2003 Ford Taurus.

Here’s how to lay the jewels ….

Look at the sparkle in those jewels! These jewels are a triangle-cut and they reflect so much more light than the square cut jewels we used on our other car, Plan B.

Here is a closeup of some of the progress made so far. It’s going pretty fast today.

And here is the finished back end so far – a LOT left to do but I feel confident we can get this done in 3 weeks or less (weather permitting).

  • Checking out the US Art Supply 50 Piece Artist Grade Colored Pencil Set Bundle

So I recently got the opportunity to purchase these colored pencils at a discount to review.

I honestly had not used colored pencils since I drew maps or biology drawings in junior high school. Recently, I’ve been seeing random artworks done with them and I wanted to check them out. I was surprised. These pigments are wax- based and surprisingly blendable even though the leads are not soft at all. The pencils themselves are made with flat edges so they don’t roll off your table and are easy to grip. Plus carrying case, while nothing to write home about, is functional and keeps your pencils together.

Whenever I try any medium that is new or I haven’t used in a long time, I usually sketch or paint a cat head. So I did that with these.
