  • The Higher the Hair the Closer to God original painting

In the South growing up, I wasn’t raised religious. However I did notice some of the sects of Christianity have strict rules for what women can wear to church services, however there were zero rules for hair and there was some seriously big hair happening.
The original went to a happy new home today but I’m going to release 25 limited edition prints of this artwork. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ll update with a better image I’m using for prints.

  • Beginning Your Art Collection with ACEOs

    icecreamladystephensiamese-cat-gardenrespectcostume-party-aceo

ACEO is an acronym for Art Cards Editions and Originals.
The size is always 2.5 x 3.5 inches.

What an artist uses for to create an original ACEO is up to the artist, which makes ACEOs a very unique and collectible type of art.

ACEOs are not Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) . ATCs are not sold and given away from artists to each other or collectors.

Often I like to do a smaller ACEO version of a larger piece I am planning. It’s a fun way to make a piece of collectible art as well as test out ideas.

If you’d like to see the ACEOs I currently have for sale – fly on over to this part of the site.

  • Too Many Cats

Is it really possible to have too many cats? What’s line between cat lover and cat hoarder?

I believe every artwork tells a story and Here is the story behind this piece.
I love cats. I established a mandatory limit of 4 because that’s all my budget can deal with – otherwise I would definitely end up with too many cats because I want to give every unwanted cat, especially the ones considered “unadoptable” a furever home.

I use high quality acrylic watercolor, gouache, ink, charcoal on all my artworks.

Measurements : 5 x 7 inches painted directly on printed photo image mounted on heavy mat board.

  • Unicorn Fish Were His Only True Friends

Kurt didn’t like being around people. He devised a way to spend unlimited time with the unicorn fish. If you haven’t seen them they have very unique faces. The occasional jellyfish shows up, but Kurt just pretends they aren’t there. He finds jellyfish utterly annoying with their lack of personality.

    This is a 4.5 x 6.5 vintage photo mounted on a 9×12 vintage chipboard.
The painting is directly on the photo and sealed under varnish.

I believe every artwork tells a story and Here is the story behind this piece.
The Toledo Zoo just spent over a year redoing their aquarium and they have these amazing unicorn fish. I swear I could watch them all day long.
This is a painting done over a vintage photo.

  • Mr. Schadenfreude the Clown ACEO

Mr. Schadenfreude can often be found with his partner clown Fun Sponge. Mr. Schadenfreude tends to make bad things happen and then laugh about it. What a jerk. Please put him in a frame on your wall so we know what he’s doing at all times and not causing mischief.

This is a gouache painting painted directly on a mounted photo of clowns . The piece is mounted on heavy mat board and ready for framing.

    Materials used:

charcoal, gouache watercolor and ink on photo mounted on mat board

  • Some Cats Have a Blue Eye and a Green Eye

Some cats have a blue eye and a green eye. I’ve been a huge supporter of the Humane Society over the years. The one here in Toledo is one of the oldest no-kill shelters. I haven’t been a foster since I moved here, but definitely I want to get involved with that again. So many dogs and cats and so many need homes – it’s nice to be able to spring them from a cage until they get adopted. ๐Ÿ™‚

This painting was from a phrase a vet told me regarding a cat I brought in for a look over. The cat had a green eye and a blue eye. The vet told me the cat was probably deaf on the side with the blue eye and proceeded to test for it – sure enough the kitty was deaf on that side, not that it slowed her down one bit.

This is an ACEO acrylic painting – contact me if you’d like to own it.
